Ragged Claws is an indie-folk band from Chicago. Since releasing their debut e.p. in 2008, Kimberly Sutton and Paul Karner have stretched their home-grown chamber folk sound beyond simple old-country wistfulness. They have crafted an aesthetic that is both nostalgic and modern, as echoes of hymns and folk tales echo over grating electronics, and songs of love and loss are set to the tune of urban decay. Their curious exploration has lead to their upcoming release “Song Art,” which is a collection of newly arranged art songs from composers like Copland, Feldman, and Ives.
